KNX Stack TP
Field of Application
The EIB/KNX standard is based on a fairly complex communication protocol that demands a high degree of effort during the implementation phase and for certification.
With our EIB/KNX development kit for twisted pair TP1, we offer a fully certified platform designed specifically for building new bus devices rapidly and effectively. Compared to legacy solutions, the EIB/KNX development kit greatly reduces development times, especially for highly complex applications.
Features overview
- System software for EIB/KNX devices

- Configuration modes: System mode, Easy mode
- Device models: 0012, 0021 and 0701/0705
- Optional: Loadable application via ETS
- Available for different microcontrollers
- Bus access: KNX UART (TP-UART) or bit transceiver
- Source code in C
- Evaluation boards
- Software tools
- ETS support
- EIB/KNX certificate for the stack
Firmware architecture
The firmware includes more than just the communication stack: it provides a complete implementation of standardized device models and fully emulates the memory areas and memory types for each device profile. The result is unrestricted compatibility with the ETS software. The source code is modular in structure, fully documented and included in the scope of delivery.
Hardware architecture
At its core, each device is equipped with a microcontroller that is responsible for bus communication and the application task.
At this time, we support the following controller families:
- ATmega (Atmel)
- MSP430 (Texas Instruments)
- 78K0 (NEC)
- ARM7 (e.g. Atmel)
The bus access to EIB/KNX is realized on the
- TP-UART chip from Siemens
- Bittransceiver, e.g. FZE1066 from Siemens
The simple design of the device keeps production costs at a minimum. A selection of evaluation boards is available to give developers a head start.
The following table gives an overview of the options available for the Weinzierl KNX stack.
Tool environment
The core of our tool environment is Net'n Node, a powerful bus monitor and analyzer to assist you during development and test. In addition, this program creates the s19 files needed for import into the ETS database. The program TraceMon displays additional debug information of the firmware.
Support
Included in the package is a developer workshop held on your premises to help you get started. We will advise you on your system architecture and give you full support with your development work.
Development services
If you are interested in individual solutions or complete device development, we offer application development services including hardware design, programming and ETS database integration. With broad experience in the development of bus components and systems, we are looking forward to finding solutions tailored specifically to your requirements. Of course also KNX product certification is included in our service.
If you have any questions on the development kit and our services, please do not hesitate to contact us.
